at any point in time there is never one clear trend defining the market, but many intertwined, contradicting, phasing in and out, and changing the way we view our world. in an age of reason, environmental sustainability has surpassed fleeting trend status and become a collective goal for humanity. social responsibility is closely following suit. and for the purposes of this report, it can be assumed that these blanket objectives are present in many forms and often the framework behind the façade of the current fad. however, the way we choose to approach them evolves in different fashions and will be discussed accordingly. contrarily, there are many trends that fail to address the issues of conservation and social responsibility but focus on design as art and the expression of its creator. while this is not meant to be a definitive guide to current design, it is an overview of what we think are some of the most important consumer driven trends on the market and what roles they may play as we progress and diversify.
